Susie Moten 
Susie Moten is the Orchestra Director at Terry Middle School in Mesquite, TX. This is her 14th year of teaching; prior to her 10 years in Mesquite, she taught 4 years in Pasadena, TX. Mrs. Moten's orchestras have won numerous UIL Sweepstakes and First Divisions, and won Best in Class at Sandy Lake Festival 7 years in a row. She has also judged various contests and taught at the Hubbard Chamber Music Summer Camp. Mrs. Moten has a Bachelors degree in Music from Sam Houston State University, and will complete a Masters degree from University of Dallas in May. She has been married for 10 years and is the proud mother of two boys, ages 5 and 3, and a girl, 1 year old.







2008 February 2nd Judges:

 Lawrence Maxey
Clarinetist Larry Maxey has performed nationwide and internationally as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player.  His career has taken him to Germany, France, Belgium, Portugal, Costa Rica and Lithuania. He performed with the Stamitz String Quartet at the International Festival de Musica in Portugal in l995 and toured Lithuania in l996 and 2004, playing concerts with orchestras as well as presenting master classes. 

Professor Emeritus at the University of Kansas, Maxey has also been a member of the music faculties of Baylor University, California State University at Long Beach, and Michigan State University. He received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and holds Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the Eastman School of Music.  His former students have gone on to earn graduate degrees at a number of prestigious institutions. Maxey’s students hold positions on the faculties of universities and in professional orchestras. 



Sergio Espinosa
Mexican conductor and violinist, Sergio Espinosa is the Music Director and Conductor of the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving and Associate Professor at the University of Texas Arlington. He also maintains an active schedule as clinician in Texas and beyond.  Dr Espinosa studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Conservatoire de Neuchâtel, Switzerland (Diplôme de Capacité Professionnelle de Violon), Ithaca College, New York, (Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting), and received his DMA in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Iowa.
