 JUNIOR DIVISION FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2010

 

JUNIOR DIVISION:

ˇ          Solo piano, harp, violin, viola, cello, string bass, guitar and/or chamber ensembles comprised of harp, strings or strings and piano, age18 or under may compete.

ˇ          Students must have a private teacher or string students may study in an orchestra.

ˇ          Contestants will be scheduled after school and evening. 

ˇ          Students may enter at one of three levels: Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced.

ˇ          Students may compete as both a soloist and a chamber musician.

 

Repertoire Requirements:

ˇ          Solo Instrumental or Piano: Standard repertoire for solo, piano duet or concerto

ˇ          Chamber Music: Standard repertoire for duo, trio, quartet or quintet

ˇ          Students will be stopped after a 5-minute time limit but will not be disqualified. There is no minimum time limit.

ˇ          Intermediate and Advanced solo music must be memorized. Beginners may use music.

ˇ          Chamber ensembles may use music. 

ˇ          One copy of the score must be provided for the judge.

ˇ          Simplified arrangements and transcriptions are permissible.

ˇ          Instrumentalists must provide their own accompanist. 

 

AMATEUR ADULT DIVISION, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2010

(no age limit-includes instruments above)

 

AMATEUR ADULT DIVISION-(no age limit-includes instruments above)

ˇ          Competitors who currently or have previously performed exclusively for pay are ineligible. 

ˇ          Competitors may not earn or have earned a living by performing as a soloist, accompanist, or chamber musician.

 

Repertoire Requirements

ˇ          As above

ˇ          Performers will have a 10-minute time limit after which time they will be stopped but not disqualified.

ˇ          Works may be less than 10 minutes in length.

ˇ          Instrumentalists must provide their own accompanist.

 

 

All awards are presented at the discretion of the judge.
