Division II Second Place Winner Anna Starzec
Pianist, Anna Starzec, started her musical education at the age of seven in Poland and graduated in 2006 from I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznañ. Anna came to the U.S. in August that year to complete a Master Degree at Oklahoma City University as the recipient of Wanda L, Bass Funding Support. Currently she is working on the Artist Certificate Program at Southern Methodist University in Dallas on a full scholarship. She has performed solo recitals in Poland, Italy, Germany, Israel and the United States. She has concertized with the Oklahoma Community Orchestra, the Oklahoma City University Symphony orchestra and the Tel Aviv Symphony Orchestra.
In 2003 Anna Starzec won 3rd prize from the International Piano Competition of the Association in Rome and the Commendation of Distinction of the Ibla Grand Prize in Sicily, Italy. During the same year she received the Erazmus Sokrates Scholarship to study piano at Hogskolen Agder University in Norway. In 2006 she was selected as the winner of the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association Graduate Level Piano Competition and the Oklahoma City Concerto Competition. She was among 25 pianists in the senior division to compete at Kingsville Competition in Texas. Anna Starzec was one of the pianists selected to participate in the Piano Texas International Academy and Young Artists Program on a full scholarship. She appeared twice on Oklahoma Young Artist Competition as the 2nd place winner in 2007 and as the 1st place winner this year. Most recently she was invited to perform solo recitals on the 10th Felicia Blumenthal International Music Festival in Tel Aviv, Israel followed with an appearance at the International Oklahoma Festival in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. |
